Today a patient of mine asked me to share her story. She said that she is grateful she was introduced to the Intima Laser for Vaginal Rejuvenation and wants other women to know about the benefits too. She shared this letter with me and now I’m sharing it with you.
Intima…My Story of Vaginal Rejuvenation
I am a 39 year old mother of three beautiful children. To be honest, I’ve had some degree of stress incontinence since my second pregnancy. It’s become a habit for me to cross my knees whenever I sneeze or cough. I figured it’s just part of having kids and getting older…I didn’t really think there was anything I could do but accept it.
Then someone told me about vaginal rejuvenation. My first instinct was to think “oh no, I don’t need something like that” but then they told me that it helps with stress incontinence. I thought about how nice would it be not to have to worry about that every time I sneeze, cough or laugh too hard! So, I started looking into the procedure.
It turns out that laser vaginal rejuvenation can help with a lot more than just stress incontinence! The stuff I was reading said that it could help with painful intercourse and vaginal dryness as well…two other problems I thought I would just have to deal with. So, I started thinking more seriously about the procedure.
My first big question was…won’t it hurt? I mean, that’s a really sensitive area! I was assured that I wouldn’t even feel the internal portion and the external portion wouldn’t be much worse. “Yeah, right” I thought. But I decided that one treatment would be worth a try at least.
So, when I went in for the procedure I was really nervous. Mostly because I didn’t want to act like a baby when everyone says it’s “painless.” Photos were taken and numbing cream was applied to the area. I sat for about 40 minutes to let the cream really take effect. Before the treatment, there came a speculum exam, you know…like a pap smear. Uncomfortable, but if I could deal with that once a year just because I’m a girl, I could certainly put up with it in hopes of not peeing every time I sneeze! After the exam, the internal part of the laser was inserted. I was told that they were going to do a test pulse and I heard the laser beep. I swear, I didn’t feel a thing! I relaxed a ton after that. The rest of the internal treatment was cake.
After that was done, we started on the external treatment. The point of the external treatment is to tighten up the loose skin down there. After having kids, things stretch out and they don’t look the same as when you are younger. The numbing cream was for the external part, and overall it was very comfortable. At the very edges of the numbness, I felt an occasional zing. The best way I can describe it is like when a 4th of July sparkler drops sparks on your hand. The sensation was gone as quick as it came.
That was it. The treatment itself took about 20 minutes. The doctor’s assistant applied ice to the area and then a cream once it had cooled off. I went home without any pain medication. That evening, I was a little sore, nothing that a little ice couldn’t fix. The next day felt kind of like the beginning or the end of a UTI…I felt a heaviness in my groin, but it wasn’t really pain. The day after that it was back to feeling normal.
I noticed some of the benefits right away. My stress incontinence was almost immediately better. They told me that was because I had some mild swelling. Even so, 3 weeks after the first treatment I still wasn’t having to cross my legs! But there were other benefits too! I had to take a week of vaginal rest, but once that was done my husband and I noticed that I already had an increase in lubrication. Before my Intima treatment I couldn’t tolerate sex without using extra lubrication, but now I make enough that I don’t have to use any lubricant at all! Plus, sex is a lot more comfortable for me! I wasn’t the only one who noticed the difference though, after just one treatment my husband commented that I felt tighter inside.
My results so far have been nothing short of amazing. I can’t wait for my second and third treatments! I’ve never really been one to talk about such personal aspects of my life, but I feel like I need to let every woman out there know that this is available…It’s finally our turn to enjoy life!
